Job Description Summary The Platform Computing Systems (PCS) Lead Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and support Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) products. The PCS Lead Systems Engineer is expected to have or develop a broad and deep level of expertise that relates to the PCS IMA products.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this PCS Lead Systems Engineer position, you will perform and provide technical direction for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of complex hardware / software for aviation-based systems. The Lead Engineer will demonstrate domain expertise and skills in Integrated Modular Avionics products. You will provide technical guidance to other personnel supporting complex projects and or tasks with demonstrated leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. You will be performing in a role that requires strong analytical, problem solving, written and oral communication skills. The PCS Lead Systems Engineer must be self-motivated, willing to learn, detail-oriented, and able to work collaboratively with others in a process-centric environment.

In addition, as the Lead Systems Engineer, you will:
  • Maintain expert level of product knowledge and application
  • Articulate architectural technology and product positioning business, managers and technical staff
  • Collaborate with the development teams to establish solution architectures for our product suite and the needs of our customers
  • Responsible for project execution of projects including scope, schedule, cost, technical, risk and quality
  • Act as a mentor for other team members ensuring the core team builds its strength
  • Listen to, understand and convey customer requirements
  • Provide technical oversight to ensure developed solutions satisfy customer and business requirements
  • Be a Technical leader for the projects across global cross-functional teams (Customers, product / program management, DTAs, RTMC, Safety and Applications engineering) assuring "cradle to grave" success
  • Proactively initiate engagement with support groups for review concurrence and compliance in:
    • Hardware
    • Software
    • Quality Assurance
    • Safety
    • Reliability
    • Maintainability & Testability
    • Manufacturing
    • and Test
  • Travel to project sites to perform on-site troubleshooting, integration, and support technical meetings.
  • Document aspects of the project details and maintain a constant communication flow with support groups, management and executives to ensure all stakeholders stay current
  • Resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission, values, and financial objectives
  • Maintain professional business relationships within internal support organizations and target accounts
  • Provide status of ongoing projects and future projects
  • Identify customer's needs and sales opportunities to help future growth

Qualifications / Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other technical / science discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years hands-on design, implementation, integration, testing, verification and experience involving; Avionics Engineering Systems, Hardware / Software Engineering, and/or Electrical Design


Eligibility Requirements: (Country Specific)

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment

Desired Characteristics:
  • Self-starter with the ability to lead the effort with minimum supervision and work hard to meet commitments/deadlines
  • Experience working in systems including; A664, ARINC429, A629, A615A, IEEE1394, RS485, A825, Discretes, Synchro/LVDT/RVDT, Voltage/current/impedance sensors and effectors
  • Experience developing system architectures derived from customer requirements including military applications
  • Avionics experience
  • Hands-on capability to handle test equipment and tools (DOORS, RCT/RDB, RACE, ACT), scripting languages (VAIS, Python, DXL, Visual Basic, ), and Excel data manipulation aspects (Condensing large amounts of information)
  • Knowledge in Avionics Systems and Aerospace Operating Practices
  • Understanding and translating customer requirements for Applications development for software solutions
  • Experience with DOORs Requirements Management Tools, and RTC/Dimensions Defect Tracking
