Job Description Summary The Welder welds and brazes together metal components as specified by layout, blueprints, diagrams, or work instructions using electric arc-welding equipment. 3rd Shift hours are 10:00 PM-6:30 AM.

Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Prepare parts for welding and brazing
  • Weld and brazes in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions
  • Weld titanium and aluminum
  • Examine weld for bead size and other specifications
  • Manually apply filler rod to supply weld metal or braze alloy
  • Position or clamp work pieces together or assemble them in a jig or fixture; may tack assemblies together
  • Produce error free products
  • Clean weld or braze joint or work piece
  • Maintain safe operating conditions of welding and brazing equipment; keep all machinery, tools, and work areas clean
  • Must complete MIL-STD-1595A and AWS A17.1 certification
  • Maintain strong attention to detail and knowledge of production processes


Qualifications/ Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of a TIG welding training course or 1 year of experience as a TIG welder
  • 1 year of experience in welding titanium and aluminum


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds repetitively, occasionally lift up to 35 pounds non-repetitively, and sometimes lift over 35 pounds with assistance
  • Conform to all EHS guidelines including, but not limited to, wearing proper PPE; Work in an area where there may be moderate noise intensity (85 to 89.9 dBa) and areas where hearing protection is required; Work in an area where, due to normal machining operations, there may be dust, fumes, or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels)
  • Able and willing to complete an initial eye examination and annual medical surveillance exams


Desired Characteristics:
  • NADCAP welding certified
  • 1 year of experience with aerospace TIG welding and brazing
  • Ability to read and understand applicable information such as written instructions, procedures, specifications and blue prints that apply to daily work operations
  • Ability to practically apply basic math calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of fractions, decimals, and whole numbers)
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment and maintain an excellent record of attendance and punctuality
  • Ambition to excel and advance in skills and knowledge


This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
