Job Description Summary The Supplier Quality Engineer will drive quality for assigned suppliers, including quality plan implementation. You will select suppliers through qualification processes, own supplier results, drive improvements utilizing supplier scorecards, own supplier audits, ensure compliance, and drive improvement plans where needed. You should have technical understanding of engineering drawings and the ability to manage vendors.

This particular role will be based in a GE partner manufacturing shop nearby to Greenville, SC. This is not a remote role.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Drive quality for assigned suppliers, including both Supplier Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality Development
  • Includes supplier qualifications, action plans, audits, performance monitoring, and assisting key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence
  • Lead suppliers through qualification processes and own supplier results
  • Drive improvement actions utilizing supplier scorecards
  • Track metrics and work quality improvement plans to address problem areas
  • Review and approve quality plans, investigate quality escapes to provide root cause analysis and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented
  • Mentor suppliers in the application of quality tools and requirements
  • Own supplier audits, ensuring compliance, and drive improvement plans where needed
  • Review documentation and witness supplier practices to determine if sound manufacturing and inspection principles are in place
  • Partner with other GE Aviation teams and leadership to identify issues and develop solutions, balancing both tactical execution and strategic initiatives to drive quality improvement and cost reduction
  • Provide technical assistance to commodity sourcing to develop awareness of manufacturing processes and improve product knowledge
  • This particular role will be based in a GE partner manufacturing shop nearby to Greenville, SC. This is not a remote role.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Supplier Quality or Manufacturing)
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in Supplier Quality, Production Quality or Manufacturing


Desired Characteristics
  • Engineering degree from an accredited university or college preferred
  • Shop floor quality or manufacturing experience
  • Experience with coating processes and development (Slurry Manufacturing, Chemical Vapor Deposition, Air Plasma Spray, and Environmental Barrier Coatings)
  • Experience with part drawings and GD&T
  • Understanding of the Quality Management System (policies, procedures, and support tools /systems)
  • Skilled in quality systems, tools and methods (root cause analysis, 8D, etc), ability to teach and facilitate continuous improvement events
  • Lean Six Sigma trained
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
  • Established project management skills
  • Basic proficiency in PC tools and software (Microsoft Office)
