Job Description Summary The Advanced Lead Engineer for generator design will be contributing to the design, development, and validation of components and systems relating to aerospace electric power generation. Activities are linked to technical development and improvement of new and existing products including high speed rotating machinery, cooling and lubrication systems, as well as the analysis and validation of the design. Impacts departmental operations and is responsible for planning/execution of assigned projects. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical engineering disciplines for high speed rotating aerospace electric generators and their associated components.
  • Includes some direct people management responsibility including staffing and performance development. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.
  • Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
  • Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
  • Related experience


Desired Characteristics
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
  • Related experience with electric generators.
  • Related experience in the design and development of aerospace mechanical components.
  • Experience in the analysis and validation of high speed rotating machinery including structural, thermal, and dynamic disciplines.
  • Experience in bearings and seals design in an oil cooled environment
  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
