Role Summary:
The Site EHS Leader for GE Aviation in Cheltenham, UK will support the campus and demonstrate leadership in communicating EHS business goals, programs, and processes in a fast-paced, growing campus environment. In the role of Site EHS Leader, you will utilize experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute EHS objectives and impact short-term and long-term business goals as well as effectively managing the site occupational health team/service providers and setting OH strategy.
Essential Responsibilities:
In addition to the above the purpose of the role will include but will not be limited to: change management, safety risk assessments and safe working procedures, electrical safety, Lean standard work, contractor safety, environmental programs (air, water, waste), site occupational health (OH) management, crisis management and industrial hygiene. Given the current climate, the role will be the site Covid-19 focal and will lead, with a supporting cross-functional team, the Covid-19 return to work activities by interpreting/implementing the GE and UK government guidelines were appropriate.
Further essential responsibilities are as follows:
  • Instill an EHS culture defined by leadership engagement, employee ownership with a focus on risk / learning / best practice sharing
  • Drive accountability with all functions ensure EHS ownership at all levels
  • Lead Return to Work activities supporting
    Covid-19 site preparation
  • Keep up to date with changes in current legislation & statutory requirement
  • Drive the implementation of GE EHS Programs and continuous improvement in EHS performance in order to achieve EHS excellence
  • Ensure EHS training plan is in place and ensure its implementation
  • Focus on high risk operations to mitigate the risks
  • Take action where necessary to ensure that all subcontractors or any Self Performance work force maintain all work areas in safe and clean condition and all installed materials are adequately preserved and protected
  • Actively participate in the management of change processes, by providing EHS-related feedback regarding issues arising in factory in the relevant department (Engineering, Supply Chain), through the appropriate tools and communication channels
  • Promote human factors by the HOP program and be the Human Factors Champion for the business, driving rigor in RCA and H & S program execution
  • Lead and develop a team of proactive EHS professionals
  • In partnership with the wider GE, set OH strategy for the site and ensure effective delivery through the OH professionals on campus
  • Work in a team environment with other members of the senior level staff
  • Serve on various leadership teams and committees to direct and influence EHS culture across the campus
  • Ensure root cause analysis is completed for all injuries and EHS events
  • Conduct EHS compliance and framework audits and reviews necessary to meet company and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Work with Supply Chain, Engineering and Programs leaders from across the campus to ensure that all operational activities are clearly identified and risk assessed, ensuring that safe working procedures are developed and any safety hazards are appropriately controlled.
  • Develop and implement an EHS strategy to drive sustainable EHS outcomes
  • Be an active participant in the site Lean strategy and standard work implementation

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related subject
  • Strong experience of EHS management in a manufacturing environment, ideally in complex businesses
