Role Summary:
The Global Customs Programs Leader reports to the Senior Logistics Staff Manager. You will have two direct reports and up to eight indirect reports. This team will be supporting the GE Aviation Business. You will lead GE Aviation's Global customs compliance, classification, monitoring and special programs. In addition, you will develop and execute custom strategies, priorities, requirements, policies, and procedures.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and continually improve the Global Customs compliance program, policies, and procedures
  • Develop and lead the global special program strategy, budget and execution
  • Develop and execute a global audit program to manage compliance across import sites
  • Represent the corporation with regulatory agencies, external audit and consulting firms, and internal audit functions
  • Collaborate with GE Aviation importers and functions to set goals, ensure proper accounting, and achieve targets as defined by priorities and entitlement
  • Define the global business classification strategy, develop priorities and lead the execution
  • Develop and manage global SOP documentation, revision requirements and controls, and methods to adapt SOP's to regulation changes
  • Define business requirements for Agent selection and oversee adherence
  • Identify Trusted Trader Programs and other special programs to strategically benefit the corporation
  • Build effective relationships with government relations, ITC, and Compliance colleagues
  • Address gaps to regain expected operational performance within the supply chain
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) to evaluate and approve ASP compliance programs for Global Agent evaluation
  • Create robust processes to research, document, interpret and disseminate customs regulatory and special trade program requirements
  • Collaborate with Governance team for clear understanding of business requirements and develop processes to meet the requirements (reporting, metrics, and inquires)
  • Collaborate with operations and other functions for customs due diligence for M&A's and divestitures
  • Please Note: Work Location listed is Evendale, OH. However, other US locations may be considered for this position
    Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the customs function
    OR In country Professional Customs Certification or Accreditation with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the customs function OR
    High school diploma / GED with a minimum of 9 years of experience in the customs function
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Experience leading global teams within the Customs function
  • Global customs experience supporting a manufacturing organization
  • Demonstrated Compliance mindset
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, demanding environment
  • Experience building relationships with internal and external customers
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to drive process improvements
  • Demonstrated change management, influencing and facilitation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a diverse and matrix organization
  • Experience managing special programs such as: Foreign Trade Zone, Duty Drawback, FTA solicitation and qualification, AEO and IPR
