Role Summary:
Member of the ADT team, responsible for designing, developing and testing software to create Aeromechanics analysis products tailored to the needs of the GE businesses (Aviation and Power) and external customers. Requires mastery of a body of theoretical knowledge. Requires developed and strong foundation of function skills and knowledge of relevant technologies.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Provide end-user support for the Engineering aeromechanics design community: train new and existing users, participate in the development of analysis templates and processes, perform and troubleshoot complex analyses on the users' behalf
  • Support the aeromechanics projects of the Advanced Design Tools (ADT) team
  • Participate in ADT aeromechanics tools design cycle: develop, validate, document and deploy numerical tools and processes
  • Design and program a small module or a large component, feature, set of features, or entire product for aeromechanics analysis
  • Some areas of expertise may include, but is not limited to, networks, operating systems, databases or applications
  • Develop new solutions under guidance and/or in a team setting or based upon precedents in the organizations
  • Specify needs, communicate about project approach and present outcomes of development / testing done
  • Deliver products as part of a team
  • Work on cross functional teams

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering role

Desired Characteristics:
  • MS in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of structure vibrations and the principles of the Finite Element Method
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with aeromechanics numerical simulations, or with tool development for aeromechanics / structural dynamics / vibrations analyses
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in analytical software development in either Fortran, C/C++, Matlab, Python
  • Familiarity with both Windows and Linux environments
  • Knowledge of turbomachinery fundamentals
  • Experience with FEM software
  • Knowledge of basic, fundamental numerical methods in linear algebra and numerical analysis
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Very strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in teams
  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
  • Proven analytical and organizational ability
  • Experience with ANSYS and ANSYS APDL
  • Knowledge of Fortran
  • Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics analyses
