Role Summary:
The Lead Commodity Management Specialist demonstrates leadership in defining, communicating and execution of business strategies, goals, projects, and processes for a given commodity.
Essential Responsibilities:

  • Define strategies for assigned commodities and suppliers and proactively drive initiatives to meet Sourcing objectives
  • Identify and qualify new suppliers
  • Assess supplier capabilities and make recommendations on supplier acceptability
  • Implement sourcing standards
  • Drive productivity opportunities with supply base to deliver on cost out goals
  • Hold regular reviews with suppliers and drive related actions with suppliers to improve their performance
  • Drive effective recovery plans and create payment tracking and invoice analysis. tracking / invoice analysis
  • Develop process to look upstream for pending requirements and drive Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales in order to ensure sourcing given adequate cycle to procure material
  • Responsible for a given commodity sourcing strategy in terms of supplier selection and approval, price negotiation, and contractual terms and conditions
  • Leads the team with Buyer and SQE to evaluate supplier performance (owns the commercial section of Supplier Scorecard)
  • Works with the GEA CL team to leverage sourcing strategies and supply base
  • Is an escalation point for a Buyer or SQE to approach supplier in case of issues
  • Responsible for supplier risk management
  • Responsible for supplier set up in the system

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's University degree or equivalent knowledge or experience
  • Demonstrated record of experience in a Sourcing or Supply Chain position
  • English language proficiency
  • Quality systems experience
  • Good negotiator, able to deal with supplier top management
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • 25-40% travel
