Lead Engineer - Testing

Role Summary:
The Lead Test Engineer is responsible for sustaining/test engineering support to production and GE Aviation Electrical Power-Long Island customers (EPLI) in resolving product and test equipment issues. In this role, you will support all aspects of test engineering including hardware and software development while supporting new product designs.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard design and test engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria in resolving product and test equipment issues
  • Perform analysis of requirements and support re-designs
  • Support generating engineering change proposals
  • Generate designs for product improvements to optimize testability and supportability
  • Provide training and mentoring to technicians and junior engineers on the team
  • Prepare material for and participate in customer reviews and presentations
  • Support special projects related to automation of manual manufacturing / test process
  • Participate in multi-functional quality initiatives and product(s) test yield improvement projects

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Computer Science from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within an engineering role

Desired Characteristics:
  • Experience with design, test and troubleshooting of electronic products and equipment
  • Analog and digital circuit design capability
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to the component level
  • Ability to work from electronic schematics
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Computer Skills and Languages including C/C++, LABVIEW, VISUAL BASIC, NI Test Stand and Microsoft programs
  • Experience with product support in a manufacturing environment
