Senior Government Accounting Manager

Role Summary:
The Senior Government Accounting Manager (Disclosure Statements) is responsible for driving technical accounting compliance, financial and operational controls, process simplification, and operational excellence to deliver accurate and compliant cost accounting practices, as defined in the Defense Federal Acquisition Supplement (DFARS), across the business.
Essential Responsibilities:
This role will execute a variety of disclosure statement revisions, calculate general dollar magnitude (GDM) impacts, disclose cost accounting practice changes to our government regulators and be integrated in the business to detect and ensure compliance on to future business changes.
In this role, you will:
  • Be responsible for supporting GE Aviation and its government business by ensuring Finance, Legal, Aviation, and GE Company objectives are achieved
  • Be responsible for ensuring compliant business processes and controls necessary to comply with US Government regulations and procedures related to cost accounting are in place
  • Be responsible for disclosing business practices to government regulators and calculating any general dollar magnitude (GDM) impacts associated with any changes to GE Aviation's practices
  • Be expected to partner and influence cross-functional teams across GE Aviation to maintain transparent, compliant and clearly articulated business practices
  • Proactively identify government opportunities / issues requiring special analysis, work with the business leaders to perform analysis and develop recommendations, and deliver on solutions
  • Utilize Digital self-service, FastWorks, Lean, and Six Sigma tools to streamline outcomes
  • Collaborate on the development and implementation of Digital strategies and tools in support of the government business portfolio
  • Provide advice and counsel to operations management and business leaders

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field from an accredited university or college
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in Finance, Audit, or Government Contracts
  • Ability and willingness to travel 10% of the time
  • Ability and willingness to work on-site in Evendale, OH 50% of the time

Desired Characteristics:
  • Experience in the Aerospace & Defense industry and US Government contracts
  • Demonstrates business acumen, problem-solving and ability to work across organizational boundaries
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work outside of a group and with a team both on-site and remotely
  • Significant expertise in US Government contracting with broad understanding of FAR, DFARS, and Cost Accounting Standards
  • Prior engagement / experience working with government contract management (DCMA) and/or government audit teams (DCAA) is desired
  • Experience with Computer Automation, Data Analytics, and visualization tools such as Spotfire, Alteryx, etc. is a plus
  • Ability to anticipate, identify, and resolve complex cross-functional issues
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma and LEAN principles
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite of products
