Role Summary:
The Staff Engineer demonstrates leadership in technology development by taking a systems level approach to exhaust module design and leading a team to fulfill deliverables. An optimized, yet balanced approach is required. Also needs to communicate business goals / programs / processes for N&DP AP. Has the experience or expertise to solve problems. Ability to develop and execute objectives for self and others.
Anticipated start date is Q2 2020.
Essential Responsibilities:
Your essential responsibility will be to thoroughly apply yourself and exhibit ownership on exhaust nozzle module development. Treat your teammates and cross functional contributors as a mission based team focusing on delivering for your customer and the aviation industry at large. You will be empowered as much as you empower yourself but will have a supportive team around you to keep you on the right path. Looking for a self starter exhibiting professionalism, team oriented mindset, and with initiative to spare. Preference for those with prior experience in this space.
Additional essential responsibilities include the more traditionally listed:
  • Execute and provide guidance for the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements
  • Lead program initiatives in design, materials, manufacturing, quality and/or productivity
  • Define and develop product processes related to design, analysis, test, materials, manufacture, quality and/or productivity
  • Identify need for technical and program reviews within the organization
  • Lead technical reviews and participate as a reviewer
  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments as appropriate
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical and program requirements, schedules and contract commitments
  • Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or Aero Engineering or equivalent from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering capacity
  • 2 years of experience in mechanical design of exhaust nozzle hardware
  • 1 year of experience in a program or project leadership role within an engineering environment
    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S):
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD US security clearance


Desired Characteristics:
  • Existing Government security clearance
  • Experience in Advanced Exhaust System component and/or module design roles
  • Effective team building and project management ability
    Strong interpersonal and leadership skill
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers
  • Knowledge of mechanical design and assembly procedures
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to develop strategies and execute plans with a sense of urgency
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
