Role Summary:
The Software Engineer will demonstrate leadership by developing and communicating software architectures and designs, and participating in research and development project execution. In this role, you will utilize your experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute growth opportunities, and have the ability to affect short- term and long-term business goals.
Essential Responsibilities:
Duties including (but are not limited to):
• Development of Software architecture
• Development of Software Requirements and Design
• Modeling and simulation of software components
• Hardware/Software Integration
• Software/Software Integration
• Verification and Validation
• Identify, evaluate, and occasionally develop engineering tools and processes necessary to meet the projects engineering and business goals
• Actively participate in software design and code reviews
• Conduct Problem Report investigation and resolution
• Provide work direction to accomplish project goals and milestones
• Provide work direction and oversight of software suppliers
• Development of processes and strategies for modeling and verification
Responsibilities for developing a software solution include:
• Managing cost and schedule
• Interfacing with customers
• Interfacing with partner companies and vendors
• Interfacing with multidiscipline teams
Qualifications/Requirements:
Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university
Eligibility requirements:
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
• Ability and willingness to travel a minimum of 10% of the time
• This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment
Desired Characteristics:
• Experience developing rapid prototypes
• Experience in embedded Military and Commercial Avionics product development
• Familiarity with software life cycle, including requirements definition and decomposition, software architecture and design, software implementation and verification
• Experience with model based development methodology
• Familiarity with cloud based computing
• Familiarity with project management approaches
• Familiarity with program management tools and practices
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
• Capable of developing and writing specifications in an engineering environment
• Ability to use project cost and schedule requirements as part of the overall best technical solution.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated/self- starter
• Innovative creative thinker
