Role Summary:
In this hands on Manufacturing Engineer role, you will support the manufacturing and assembly of electronic products for the Vandalia site. In this position, you support the manufacturing processes as well as have the opportunity to drive continuous improvement and process yield. You will work with a cross functional team to resolve day-to-day manufacturing problems, troubleshoot and resolve process and product issues. This role reports to Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot transformer and related product failures to determine root cause and corrective action
  • Use production and quality data to drive and implement process improvements to reduce costs and losses
  • Build and troubleshoot sub-components
  • Drive lead / cycle time improvements
  • Ensure proper documentation for manufacturing processes, engineering designs and technical data is accurate and kept up to date
  • Ability to work in a matrixed organization and work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment to meet customer expectations and complete projects on time and within budget
  • Lead and effectively interface with production planning, engineering, sourcing, and production teams to complete projects to meet EHS, production, quality, cost, goals and budget
  • Participate in LEAN initiatives and engage Six Sigma tools for process improvements

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university with a minimum of one (1) year Manufacturing or Operations experience
  • OR
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree from an accredited university or college with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in Electronics Manufacturing

Desired Characteristics:
  • Two to three years of experience in manufacturing or operations is preferred
  • Knowledge of aerospace electronic systems, production methods and processes
  • Strong electrical aptitude
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Six Sigma training or preferred quality training
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
