Job Description Summary As an aviation engines control systems engineer, you are responsible of solving highly-complex problems and partner with smart teammates to build the future of flight by delivering impactful products to customers all around the world. Your responsibilities range from reviewing product requirements and designing aircraft engine control software that fulfills them, to translating requirements to engineering tasks and implementing them. The position includes the design, test (system simulation), project management and maintenance of engine control logic, application software, real-time modeling, hardware interfaces, engine/aircraft testing in both laboratory and field environments in support of engineering and test activities to assure General Electric Aviation's commercial engines perform in a safe, efficient, and robust manner.

Job Description
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Execute, with minor guidance from senior engineering team members, the analysis, design, test, and integration activities required to deliver engine controls solutions for GE Aviation products. Activities include:
  • Evaluate the functional requirements to achieve the operational requirements of aircraft engines
  • Define key characteristics of the electronics, fuel, hydraulic systems, sensors, actuators and control logic design required to achieve the control system functional requirements for power management, I/O signal processing, fault detection, accommodation, thrust response and operations across the flight envelope, including ground and air starting.
  • Use design tools such as Beacon, SCADE, NPSS and MATLAB / Simulink to construct controls system solutions
  • Verify system operation in desktop simulations, hardware-in-the-loop tests (dry rigs and wet rigs), ground engine tests, and flight tests
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
  • Be accountable for the quality of own work. Subject to direct operations supervision/prescribed work instructions/systems checking. Execute within a well-defined operations framework
  • Participate in process standardization and GE Lean Simplification efforts
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or Computer Science from an accredited college or university
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English
  • Strong Problem-Solving skills
  • Software development experience using C, C++ or similar languages
  • Demonstrated experience managing assignments as part of team project
  • Experience with the processes for requirements, logic design, and simulation/test of real time embedded software
DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS
  • Knowledge of real time control systems development tools (e.g. DOORS, Beacon, SCADE, Simulink, NPSS, Change & Synergy)
  • Familiarity with controls software design, test and analysis tools and systems
  • Passion for Continuous Improvement and early adopter of change, adjusting to find faster, simpler approaches that are impactful
  • Familiarity with aviation software quality standards and proce
  • Desire to work in a diverse and collaborative team environment
