Job Description Summary The Power Electronics Test Data System Engineer will report to the Hybrid Electric Electrical Systems Manager within the GE Aviation Advanced Technologies Organization. The engineer will be responsible for test facility setup and operation; additionally, they will play a critical role in the execution of hybrid electric components and system testing. This role is essential towards the safe execution of GE Aviation's suite of ground and flight technology demonstrator vehicles. These demonstrator vehicles serve as foundational platforms for maturing hybrid electric and other technologies central to the realization of the aviation industry's sustainability goals in the first half of the 21st century.

Successful early career GE test data system engineers possess a diversity of educational backgrounds including, but not limited to: electrical, aerospace, mechanical, software, systems, and controls engineering.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities

As the Power Electronics Test Data System Engineer, you will:
  • Actively prepare for, participate in, and document results of power electronic systems testing
  • Manage data flow between facilitie s and among diverse stakeholders
  • Capture lessons learned and best practices to aid in continuous improvement of test execution activities
  • Participate in all facets of the systems engineering process - system architecture, systems engineering, and project management
  • Define and formalize system, test, hardware, software, and human integration requirements
  • Define and execute engineering lifecycle test, validation, and verification activities
  • Apply and define GE best practices and standards to testing power electronic components and systems
  • Validate and verify hardware/software designs in a diversity of system integration environments - from local desktop computer simulations to fully representative flight tests
  • Present results to internal (GE) and external (customer, agency, government, ...) customers
  • Collaborate effectively in a diverse, global, distributed work environment


Additionally, you will responsible to continually mature your personal and professional development through training opportunities, mentorship, and formal career path definition.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree accredited college or university
Desired Characteristics
  • Highly-motivated, self-starting, and passionate
  • Test system design or data system design experience
  • Coding experience in MATLAB/Simulink, python, C/C++, VBA, etc.
  • Familiarity with ethernet/CAN communication protocols
  • Knowledge of power electronics and energy storage
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics and heat transfer
  • Demonstrated team leadership, collaboration, and facilitation skills
  • Exceptional communication skills and willingness to continually improve communication and influencing skills in more-distributed work environments
  • Flexible and friendly approach to working in teams
  • Project planning and project management experience
  • Keen listener and innate drive to succeed
This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
