Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance & modifications on Boeing 747-400 flying test bed
- Perform sheet metal repair
- Conduct systems troubleshooting to repair systems written up by flight crew
- Complete all documentation / paper work in a neat and proficient manner according to Company policies and procedures, as well as per FAR 145
- Install, inspect, test, adjust, or repair test engine and pylon
- Set up and operate test equipment to perform functional test aircraft systems
- Lay out installation of assemblies / systems in aircraft, according to blueprints and wiring diagrams
- Be able to understand and use maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogs, component overhaul manuals, engine manuals, service bulletins and airworthiness directives.
- Perform flight control, landing gear, and engine rigging procedures.
- Troubleshoot and perform aircraft system tests.
- Willingness to accomplish all jobs that are not beyond the candidate's technical ability.
- Take and ask for direction. Have mechanical aptitude and common sense.
- Perform the highest quality of work consistently. Perform non-technical jobs with minimum supervision.
- Ability to fill out, parts tags, log book, engineering log, component change log, routine and non-routine task cards and part requisitions correctly and with attention to detail.
- Must be able to maintain work quality at all times.
- Knowledgeable in environmental safety policies and procedures.
- Have the ability to operate 400hz power units, hydraulic mule and air start units.
- Certified to operate cherry pickers, man lifts, small and large tugs, small and large forklifts. Have knowledge of the operation of cranes.
- Perform any other task as assigned by the Flightline Manager or Lead Technician
Qualifications/Requirements
- Valid A&P License
- High School Diploma / GED
- Minimum 5 years of related experience
- Ability and willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability and willingness to work in an environment that is subject to changing climate conditions and moderate noise levels
- Capability and willingness of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds (with or without assistance)
- Ability and willingness to travel 20 percent of the time
- Able to work at heights up to 80 feet
Desired Characteristics
- Two year technical degree
- Demonstrated ability to train others
- Knowledgeable of FAR145 Repair Station Procedures
- Experience working on wide body Boeing aircraft
- Strong communication and people skills
- Ability to exercise good judgment in a team environment as well as in aircraft maintenance and safety
- Problem solving and organizational skills
- Ability to read and understand Company and Manufacturer Manuals
- Ability to perform all line maintenance functions unsupervised at any time
