Roles and Responsibilities:
Role Summary/Purpose
The Asheville Machinist - Highly Skilled role involves the Manufacturing of complex rotating jet engine components, working with exotic aerospace alloys on some of the latest CNC machine tools in a clean, air conditioned facility. Following successful completion of the post- employment onboarding training, individuals will participate on teams to identify and implement process improvement opportunities resulting in improved quality and product flow.
Essential Responsibilities
In addition, you will:
- Read and understand process operation sheets, tooling sheets, tech plans and associated documents
- Work from blue prints and work instructions to produce parts
- Have the ability to correctly gauge parts and record dimensions (understand IRDs)
- Change and reset tooling
- Successfully complete applicable special processes and operator certification requirements
- Use measuring equipment, such as micrometers, caliper and gauges
- Understand Part Process Flow (incoming / outgoing)
- Perform preventive maintenance checks
- Be an active contributing member of a high performance, self-directed work team with minimum supervision
- Perform tasks that require manual dexterity
- Complete all required compliance training
Qualifications/Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED and minimum of 1 year of full time work experience
- Computer Numerical Controlled machining using milling, turning and grinding processes
- OR an associate's degree or higher in a manufacturing or engineering discipline (for example, Computer Integrated Machining or Engineering Technology)
Desired Characteristics
- Experience or training utilizing a combination of blue prints and work instructions to produce
machine parts - Flexibility to work off shifts
- Mechanical aptitude
- Demonstrated history of delivering results
- Ability and willingness to balance multiple priorities
- Demonstrated ability with computer systems
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
- Successfully complete applicable special processes and operator certification requirements
This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
