Lead Engineer - Testing

Job Description Summary The Lead Engineer demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for the Instrumentation and Computerized Systems team. This position will function as our Data Quality Focal point.

The Data Quality Focal provides direction, guidance, and assistance to ensure quality data is acquired at every terminal and appropriately shared with the customer. He/She will be a focal for data quality issues at any of the development test sites. He/She will utilize his/her own initiative to find, prevent, and address issues and concerns. The role of the data quality focal is to assist site personnel with any issues preventing them from providing our customers with quality data; to share his/her knowledge and skills, where applicable, for lessons learned (e.g. train when/where necessary); exemplify and maintain an atmosphere of professionalism, respect, and business conscientiousness throughout the team: be solutions focused; and to provide the direction and the example necessary for the importance of providing quality data to our customers. He/she may also be asked to take the lead, or participate, with special projects; and should be capable of providing information, analysis, and feedback in a presentable form to the team without prompt (i.e. when needed and before being asked) and upon request.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

• Data Quality Focal for the customer, data acquisition technicians, and for management

• Communicate with the Systems, Performance, and Test engineering groups to find common goals and set expectations

• Emphasize need and identify opportunities to improve first time yield for quality data.

• Understand how the test site systems (data system, console, facility) operate

• Monitor early engine testing for data issues and continue until testing is complete

• Understand environmental impacts on engine test; seek to mitigate and/or resolve

• Monitor cell correlation testing to ensure quality of data and testing conditions

• Be proficient of data retrieval, data analysis, and data presentation

• Provide support and guidance with the data collection programs

• Be aware and understand any test site activities that might impact cell correlation, etc. and infuse expertise to be a part of the solution

• Be the PTO subject matter expert when discussing matters dealing with cell correlations with outside customers.

• Represent PTO as our data expert when interfacing with regulatory authorities and internal and external customers

• Trend test cell performance and summarize for management and regulatory authorities.

• Trend pertinent data to help predict/identify leading indicators of potential problems.

• Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
