Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform system engineering and provide technical / project support on Research & Development and New Product Introduction programs
- Perform model-based systems design and simulation to evaluate alternate architectures and to automate validation and verification activities to reduce cost of change
- Allocate system functional requirements into efficient hardware, software, and firmware architectures
- Develop innovative technical solutions utilizing the full capabilities of GE Aviation Systems on development programs and proposals
- Streamline systems engineering processes to cost effectively execute advanced technology programs
- Identify enabling and discriminating technologies and Intellectual Property (IP) required to achieve business objectives
- Support bid and proposal efforts by creating differentiated technical solutions and generating engineering cost estimates
- Support R&D planning and product roadmap development
- Provide technical leadership on system level new product, new business pursuits, and proposal efforts
- Interact with customer engineering organizations to define and shape requirements for future platforms and systems
- Provide technical oversight to ensure developed solutions satisfy customer and business requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or similar field from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in the aviation industry including the following:
- Experience in the development and specification of military avionics systems
- Knowledge of two or more of the following avionics subsystems: mission processing, networks, weapon systems, unmanned systems, payloads, sensors, and navigation systems
Eligibility Requirements
- This role is restricted to U.S. citizens due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment
- Ability & Willingness to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance
- Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a drug screen and background check

Desired Characteristics
- Technical / Project experience, particularly in the development of new avionics products and systems
- Self-starter with the ability to lead the effort with minimum supervision and work hard to meet commitments/deadlines
- Experience defining and implementing avionics systems architectures
- Knowledge of GE Aviation systems development processes
- Experience working research and development projects
- Experience with software tools such as DOORs, Dimensions, RTC, Git, Windchill
- Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) for the design and verification of avionics-based systems
- Knowledge of vehicle management systems, flight controls and related equipment
- Experience working with GE Aviation OEM and military customers
- Familiarity with military specifications and procurement processes
- Detailed knowledge of GE Aviation products
- Experience in vehicle and avionics systems level design, integration, and verification
- Experience working low-TRL research and development programs
- Experience with military mission systems, guidance and navigation, sensor integration and processing, and/or avionics control systems
- Experience in writing and leading engineering teams developing proposals
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proven track record of innovation
- Experience working sensitive projects and programs
- Active DOD Security Clearance
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a dynamic environment
