Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Become an expert at executing the FAA/EASA and GE ODA engine and it's control system certification processes;
• Research and present expert analysis on federal regulations, advisory circulars, acceptable means, special conditions, memos, agreements and precedents across a wide range of engineering topics;
• Identify requirements gaps, overlap, risks and opportunities, advising the Certification Manager to adjust program management schedules as appropriate;
• Lead the authoring, standardization, completeness and quality control of assigned certification deliverables (test plans, certification reports, manuals, formal responses, etc.) for government approval;
• Review and edit engineering reports to ensure the scope is appropriate to the customer and the compliance case is strong enough for first time yield;
• Directly author safety and compliance substantiations involving the consolidation of multiple engineering disciplines and test team inputs;
• Manage assigned deliverables for on-time delivery in a complex framework of prerequisites and dependencies;
• Host multilateral reviews between engineering specialists and the approving authority to defend certification submittals and agree to revisions as needed;
• Demonstrate strong technical writing in the English language, and exceptional skill with MS Office products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint);
• Record and maintain official evidence of compliance in the appropriate GE and FAA libraries.
- • Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited college;
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering position;
• Understanding of turbine engines, turboprop systems, engine control system and engine components;
• Experience with FAA 14 CFR Part 33, EASA CS-E, DO-160, DO-178;
• Strong problem solving, communication and presentation skills;
• Fluent communication in English.
- Diverse experience across engineering proficiencies is preferred (aerodynamics, mechanical, materials, software, systems integration, etc.);
• Experience with GE engine certification procedures;
• Experience with requirements and/or legal writing.
