Job Description
Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Updates and maintains plans and drawings of GE Aviation maintained building and facilities
- Prepares working drawings, maps, schematics, charts, and facility alteration schematics, utilizing standard reference materials
- Provides detailed drawings for maintenance and remodeling projects
- Works with GE Aviation maintenance staff, engineers and contractors regarding construction problems, work schedules, and deviations from specifications
- Makes annual updates of master utility and building plans, reviews changes in plans and specifications with GE Aviation Facilities Engineering team, maintenance staff, and contractors
- Inspects project sites to make sketches, take and confirm measurements; documents actual site conditions to aid in developing architectural designs
- Inspects campus buildings and grounds to verify the location and identification of electrical, water, gas, voice/data, compressed air, irrigation, and fire protection systems and components
- Maintains facility blueprints for completeness and updates as-built files once project has been completed
- Uses safety equipment, supplies, and procedures to perform job duties as required; reports fire, sanitary & safety hazards, and any need for repairs to appropriate administrator
- Responds to immediate safety and/or operational concerns for the purpose of taking appropriate action to resolve immediate safety issues and to maintain a functional environment
- Provides reports on activities as requested by appropriate administrator
- Incorporates new information or technology into existing job duties
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Review design and fabrication drawings for accuracy, tolerances, producibility and compliance to applicable codes and standards
- Interpret and apply ANSI 2.4 - AWS Weld Symbols and ANSI Y 14 -Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards is required
- Document and ensure technical data generated is consistent with Lynn Plant Services (LPS) Facilities Engineering policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science from an accredited college or university (OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of Information Technology (IT), Engineering, or related technical experience)
Knowledge of:
- State and Federal building codes; OSHA Regulations and Handicap Accessibility (ADA) requirements
- General drafting methods, tools and symbols used in architectural, civil, mechanical, and electrical drawings
- Elementary principles of civil, structural, and mechanical engineering
Desired Characteristics

- Experience with modifying building plans or drawings.
- Familiarity with maintaining facility blueprint files and update as-built drawings.
- Proficient in Unigraphics 3D solid modeling computer aided design and 2D (CAD) skills
- Ability to manage electronic data files in a structured database environment
- Familiarity with sketcher-based design methodology
- Web based knowledge, word processing, and electronic spreadsheet / presentation skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to perform in a team environment
Ability to:
- Read and interpret building plans, specifications, code compliance's, blueprints, technical manuals, charts, and schematics
- Maintain accurate records and reports on completed assignments
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions
- Observe safety requirements and safe work practices & methods as required
- Establish and maintain cooperative work relationships
- Work independently and under minimal supervision
