Lead Systems Engineer - Flight Management Systems

The Flight Management System team is looking for a Lead Systems Engineer to lead the engineering in-service field support for our civil and military Flight Management System (FMS) products and for our associated FMS training products supplied to aircraft simulation companies for end-customer (airline) training. In addition, this person will contribute to requirements development and verification activities in our FMS update programs to grow their technical expertise in our various FMS products.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Record and track status of customer (e.g. Boeing) and end-user (airline) in-service FMS related questions and issues sent to GE for analysis and explanation and recommendations.
- Record and track status of various sim-house (e.g., CAE, Flight Safety) FM product related support requests, questions, and issues sent to GE.
- Lead a small team of organizationally matrixed engineers assigned to investigate and provide responses to these requests, questions, and issues.
- Leverage additional technical expertise from other subject matter experts within the Connected Aircraft organization to assist in the investigations, when needed.
- Report regularly the status the pending requests and issues to our customers.
- Establish and grow relationships with GE Field Service Engineers, Boeing in-service support team, and airline customers
- Report to CA program leadership systemic or potentially safety-related in-service issues to prioritize their correction in future product updates.
- Seek and implement lean/continuous improvement opportunities in the in-service engineering support area.
- Contribute to requirements development and verification activities in our FMS update programs to grow their technical expertise in our various FMS products.
Required Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in STEM from an accredited university or college
- 4+ years' experience in an engineering/technology related field, including 2+ years' experience in avionics systems or software development.
Desired Characteristics
- 3+ years' experience in developing Flight Management Systems.
- Experience in leading engineering project teams
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
