Job Description Summary The Advanced Lead Engineer for generator design will be contributing to the design, development, and validation of components and systems relating to aerospace electric power generation. Activities are linked to technical development and improvement of new and existing products including high speed rotating machinery, cooling and lubrication systems, as well as the analysis and validation of the design. Impacts departmental operations and is responsible for planning/execution of assigned projects. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products
  • Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.
  • Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
  • Uses judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated issues and processes with technical variety. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Will lead projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an accredited university or college
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a mechanical engineering role

Desired Characteristics
  • Minimum 5 years mechanical engineering experience preferably within the aerospace component design and development arena
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
  • Established project management skills.
  • Customer interface experience.
