Software Engineer - Cloud and Automation

This position will be a hands-on technology team member, responsible for automation of GE's current and next generation infrastructure technology and engineering applications. You will be working with automation tools to automate multiple technologies and software packages within a full-stack, on-premise infrastructure. You will also be part of the team working on-going development of new, innovative full stack products and technologies that automate onsite processing, as well as future cloud deployment capabilities, within a highly regulated space. You will work to ensure the automation solutions implemented meet both current and future needs of the business and the Engineering function. Your work will require an ability to work across multiple technical or functional domains while ensuring consistency in the technology used to provide on-premise and off-premise services and application to the engineering community.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Provide hands on architecture, design and build of automation tools that automate future infrastructure and applications for both on-premise and external cloud solutions.
Work to automate engineering, security, and technology related to the current and future technical infrastructure products within the portfolio.
Drive the development of automation solutions, with reusable components, that can be leveraged in different ways to meet globally diverse business requirements from a broad stakeholder community.
Evolve current legacy service and solution offerings into next generation capabilities aligned to new and emerging business needs and security requirements, such as on-premise and off-site cloud capability, automation, and DoD security requirements.
Research and evaluate of emerging automation technology, as well as industry and market trends to assist in automation development, solution implementation and/or operational support activities across multiple teams and scenarios.
Document automated products to show standardization, quantify results, and an increase in efficiency, using a data-driven approach to support conclusions.
Work in partnership with your peers and colleagues to ensure and implement an automated cohesive wing-to-wing full technology stack.
Support the development of workload management and job scheduling tools aligned to and integrated with technical focus areas such as: containerization, cloud services, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and big data services.
Balance cost, quality, performance, capability, and productivity variables effectively.
Required Characteristics
A minimum of 2 years designing, developing, building, migrating, and implementing automation, cloud or applications for on premise and off premise deployment

Desired Characteristics
Experience with automating compute, storage and visualization solutions and workflows in Microsoft's Azure cloud framework.
Demonstrated ability to design, develop and maintain creative solutions to complex software, infrastructure, and application problems.
Experience with new and emerging automation technologies such as Microsoft DevOps, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, SWARM, etc.
Experience with cloud infrastructure security strategies and technologies.
Basic analytical, problem solving and technical skills.
Ability to communicate technical concepts and solutions clearly and effectively.
Familiarity with United States Government regulatory controls and frameworks (NIST, DFARS, CMMC, etc.)
