JOB PURPOSE

Working in a dynamic environment, the Product Owner - Finance Technology is responsible for leading internal and external teams building Enterprise Level Finance Systems solutions within agreed timeframes. The role will manage budgets, supplier relationships and the in-house members of the Finance Systems function in Technology and works closely with the business and IT teams to deliver new products and services to meet the needs of projects and programmes within the prioritised portfolio. The role will also engage in activities to continually optimise how we work and contribute to strategic decisions about the future IT estate.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Contributes to defining the Finance Systems technology strategy, considering people, product, partners and processes
  • Line management of in-house team members
  • Delivery of technical solutions through initiation, design, build, test, release and support
  • Acts as a single point of contact for business systems programme/project managers for delivery matters
  • Acts as a single point of contact for Service Management supporting the activities of service design and service transition; holds overall responsibility for Finance Systems platform operations and the related Finance Systems platform service delivery management and L2/L3 teams
  • Ensures all design, quality and security governance processes are followed in line with the direction set out by Strategy and Architecture
  • Holds overall responsibility for project delivery and releases to the agreed schedule, within timescales and to budget
  • Manages a diverse portfolio of projects for multiple stakeholders
  • Identifies conflicts and dependencies between projects and raising these with the relevant project managers
  • Ensures all risks and issues are captured, tracked and appropriate actions taken
  • Leads the collaborative, dynamic planning process, prioritising workload against the capacity and capability of the team
  • Continuously drives process improvements both internal in solution delivery and in the wider IT community
  • Champions and encourages adherence to process
  • Actively participates in the management community, sharing and re-applying skills and knowledge and bringing in best practice. Supports mentoring and coaching with the delivery community
  • Ensures the appropriate controls and governance are implemented to manage all key aspects of delivery and the platform
