There is a vacancy for a skilled machinist working within the Hamble Jig Bore area. This operator will be expected to, using manual machining practices, machine complex components using jig-bore techniques, working to part drawings, manufacturing plans and inspection reports from CMM. The successful applicant will need to be a time served machinist having successfully completed an NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification in Mechanical engineering or similar field.
The skilled machinist - jig borer will, using manual machining techniques, machine components to close tolerances (holes, bores datum faces etc) using a variety of jig boring machines. They should be familiar with rotary tables and rotary tilt tables and be able to work to high drawing tolerances. They should have a firm understanding in machining principles, material properties, and be able to carry out manufacturing activities ensuring they maintain a safe working environment at all times.
•NVQ level 3 or similar qualification in an engineering/manufacturing discipline.
•Have an understanding of EHS
•Be pro-active and work as part of a team
•Basic IT knowledge
•Be able to self-inspect their own work using various methods
•Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy.
•Positive approach to problem solving.
•Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
•Experienced in working in a tool room environment using a jig bore machine is desirable.
•Please note - there are certain aspects of this role that require mechanical/ manual lifting of parts so some lifting will be required.
