Luton, Bedfordshire, England
What you will be doing
As Quality Engineer, you will be carrying out internal Part 145 audits, including maintenance sample audits and aircraft inspections along with audits of suppliers and contracted organisations.
You will provide on-site support to the base maintenance activities in Luton and develop a close relationship with all responsible managers within the Part 145 organisation to promote the Quality and Safety systems within the organisation.
The role will require you to review applicable standards for each audit and prepare documentation including the updating of audit checklists, where required. You will support the internal approval process, including approval board interviews, supplier audits and the issue of single event authorisations. You will organise audit opening meetings to ensure that the scope of the audit is fully understood and at completion you will organise audit closing meetings to ensure that audit findings are fully understood by the managers responsible and that timescales for corrective / preventive actions are agreed.
We will look for you to demonstrate an ‘added value approach’ to auditing and working proactively with the auditee to develop preventative actions that benefit the operation.
You will need to ensure that that all findings are closed within agreed timescales and that necessary steps are taken to escalate overdue findings and prepare audit reports for directors and senior management which detail the findings and summarise the audit as a whole.
The role will require you to maintain an effective working relationship with the Regulatory Authority, interfacing as necessary on regulatory and audit matters, and support external audits of the organisation and preparing responses to external audit findings, e.g. from the Regulatory Authorities and customers.
You will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up to date information within the departmental Quality Database.
You will support the principle of ‘Self-auditing’ across the organisation, engaging departments and promoting a culture of robust internal regulation.
A key part of the role will be to analyse and review any Maintenance Organisation audit trends and recommend appropriate actions, including giving feedback into the internal Human Factors training program, taking an active role in projects and departmental initiatives as required.
