What you will be doing
Your role will be to represent TUI Airways as the delegated Compliance Monitoring Manager in accordance with current EASA regulation and be directly responsible for ensuring company compliance and quality management activity with all relevant aviation regulations as applicable to TUI Airways. You will be required to escalate serious compliance deficiencies within the airline to the TUI Airways Accountable Manager and Nominated Persons. You will be the primary point of contact for all aspects of interaction with the UK Civil Aviation Authority and you will be a Form 4 holder. You will ensure that aviation compliance requirements are communicated and implemented throughout the airline as required.
You will be expected to liaise with the other national authorities across the TUI Group including Canada and the EU. You will work closely with TUI Group airlines, together with your line manager in the UK, on all aspects that impact compliance management. You will also regularly contribute to Airline Board level decisions on aviation compliance monitoring and quality management issues applicable to TUI Airways and the TUI Group airlines.
You will lead the business in identifying, assessing, and responding to new and emerging compliance and quality management issues. This includes the management of unregulated risks through the TUI Airways Safety Management System and requires regular work with the airline Safety Action Groups (SAGs). You will maintain the integrity of the Compliance Monitoring and Quality System which is embedded within the management system. Continuous improvement is expected therefore you will apply this in all aspects of your role, including the audit process by ensuring the recording of findings, producing reports and follow up with closures, lessons and recommendations where required for all significant compliance and quality related issues.
You will also be expected to provide advice and guidance in the event of serious incidents or emergencies affecting the airline or our customers. This may include remote guidance led from the Crisis Management Centre in the UK but could involve deploying to the incident location itself to provide support to operational teams where required. You will also be required to provide on-call specialist compliance advice to support the operation in and out of office hours.
Drawing upon your technical expertise, you will work closely with your peers and line manager in ensuring that all relevant compliance monitoring management procedures, handbooks, manuals and other documents are maintained and the key points are well understood throughout the business and by the Competent Authorities.
You will collaborate closely with your colleagues within the Safety, Compliance and AOC directorate to provide compliance advice to the wider airline in line with the overall TUI Group values and behaviours expectations.
What we are looking for
Strong stakeholder management and relationship skills with experience of working at senior management level within a company, government or similar institution
Qualified operational auditor or quality engineer with strong understanding of audit and compliance monitoring principles
Strong decision making and policy setting skills in a regulated environment
Compliance Monitoring and/or Quality management experience within the aviation industry. This could include experience gained within an operational, regulatory or consultancy environment
Strong working knowledge and application of aviation regulations and guidelines including EU and National regulations as well as other international regulations including the US FAA
Strong presentation and written communication skills, particularly the preparation of policy documents, procedural and process manuals, formal reports and correspondence with external agencies
Strong understanding of risk and control methodologies
Ability to work effectively in a complex, matrix organisation or independently as required
Proven organisation skills with the ability to deliver to set deadlines
Highly motivated and able to work under own initiative
Excellent written and verbal English language skills
Strong understanding of operational aspects of commercial aviation is desirable
Willingness to travel to meet the role requirements on occasion
