JOB TITLE: PROJECT ENGINEER
GROUP: PUMPS (HYDROMECHANICAL)
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To act as technical lead for pump projects internally and externally as directed by the Engineering or Project Manager.
To co-ordinate internal and external resources and provide technical leadership to more junior engineers such that projects are delivered to specification, on time and to budget.
To ensure that customer requirements are properly understood and that the design implementation meets these requirements.
To act as the technical point of contact for the customer and to maintain or improve customer relations.
To prepare and review technical documentation in accordance with company procedures, including but not limited to:
- Acceptance Test Procedures
- Development and Qualification Test Reports
- Co-ordination memos and meeting minutes
- Test Schedules
Defining and directing development and qualification test programmes, including but not limited to:
- Organising the manufacture of hardware and test fixturing
- Supervising and supporting test technician and junior engineer activities
- Presenting test plans internally and to customers
To authorise estimates on workpackages and the identification of risks with suitable mitigation.
To lead in the preparation of technical proposals. To have the technical understanding and commercial intuition to produce competitive tendering documents.
To lead failure investigations associated with pump product.
To support and champion cost out initiatives throughout the business.
To keep up to date with latest aerospace technology especially that related to aircraft fuel system and general pump performance.
To provide technical direction for future research and development, identifying emerging technologies.
To maintain a well organised project filing system and working environment in line with ELSS.
-At least five years engineering experience in a relevant professional engineering environment ideally gained in the aerospace or equivalent high technology industry.
-Experience leading a small technical team.
-Experience generating and reviewing technical documentation.
-Familiarity liaising with customers.
-Experience presenting at internal and external technical reviews.
-In depth knowledge of fluid pumping technology .
-Fluency in MS Office suite, particularly Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
-Proven ability to work well within a team and on own initiative.
Engineering degree or equivalent
