SUMMARY

The Bench Technician II provides direct service to customers by trouble-shooting and repairing aircraft radios and other systems in a timely and effective manner.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Provides personal service to customers.

· Discusses repair projects with customers, including cost estimates, time schedules, etc.

· Creates written repair estimates.

· Develops long-term relationships with customers.

· Processes customer orders and repairs avionics systems.

· Receives customer orders from Department Manager or Supervisor.

· Performs analysis of problems and determines solutions.

· Pulls appropriate parts.

· Repairs radios and all other equipment, as defined by the FAA rating of the certified repair station.

· Prepares correct FAA paperwork for repair jobs.

· Returns repaired equipment to service via an FAA Form 8130-3 or other approved method.

· Completes Log Book Entries as appropriate.

· Brings reports to Manager or Supervisor when the job is complete.

· Maintains effective relationships with other management, staff and departments to deliver high quality service to the organization.

· Coordinates customer repair projects with Sales, Paint, Upholstery and other departments to ensure projects are completed within deadlines.

· Communicates with employees, leadership, customers, vendors, and government officials in person, by phone, through email, and in writing. Responds promptly to all messages.

· Keeps close attention to service bulletins, technical updates, etc. to stay abreast of all equipment updates and changes.

· Performs miscellaneous projects and completes various tasks as requested by management.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

· Two-year Trade School or Vocational Degree in Avionics required.

· Three years’ minimum related experience in installation and/or avionics technician work in the aviation industry preferred.

· FAA Repairman Certificate.

· Knowledge of FAA certification processes, including parts, repair processes, drawings, and all applicable compliance requirements.

· Able to make proactive service decisions and move forward with projects based on available information; able to think analytically and select a solution from many alternatives.

· Proficient in computer skills, including MS Office, Word, Excel, and Internet. Able to learn and utilize all available software packages.

· Able to meet FAA regulatory and safety requirements in all aspects of the work.

· Able to maintain high quality standards and attention to detail in all facets of the work. Able to maintain utilization and efficiency standards.

· Able to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage own work in a fast-paced environment. Able to work unsupervised, make moderate level decisions independently, and solve problems effectively and creatively.

· Able to display high levels of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquiries and needs of individuals both internal and external to the organization.

· Work as an effective and proactive team-player; exhibit flexibility and switch priorities in work duties while maintaining a positive attitude; understands the importance of supporting the organization, customers, and other employees.

· Show professional knowledge, proficiency and initiative in achieving goals and meeting standards.

· Able to identify, evaluate, problem solve, and give direction regarding problem resolution for individual issues.

· Hear, speak and effectively verbally communicate in the English language, including following oral and written instructions, in order to communicate with people inside and outside the organization.

· Sit at a desk for extended periods of time and perform long hours of work repairing radios and other systems.

· Apply manual dexterity and visual acuity for computer keyboarding and office equipment use and to review detailed reports and information.

· Travel nationally and potentially, internationally, as needed and directed by management. Must be able to obtain and maintain a United States passport.

· Must have all required tools designated on the minimum required tool list within 90 days of starting employment.

· Comply with drug testing requirements in compliance with federal regulations.

· Use finger and hand dexterity in using hand tools to make repairs and conduct tests.

· Travel nationally and potentially, internationally, as needed and directed by management. Must be able to obtain and maintain a United States passport.

· Incumbent must be able to use computers, telephones, photocopiers, repair tools, testing and inspection equipment, and related office and testing equipment.
