For the crew management system Netline/Crew, being operated by over 40 worldwide distributed customers, a mix of different architectures and technologies needs to be mastered. With an internationally distributed team of architects and developers, the architecture needs to be defined on a global scale to provide the "big picture". Using a modular and service based approach, the future architecture will be a mixture of classic core components as well as modern technology. Designing the architecture also includes non-functional requirements concerning maintainability, security and performance of the product.

Basic tasks for the advertised position are:
  • Analysis and design of the overall high-level IT architecture of the product
  • Ensuring a complete and adaequate documentation of the architecture on a high-level basis to serve all relevant stakeholders, quality assurance for detailed architectural designs and documentation produced by development teams, make sure documentation is easily available for all stakeholders involved
  • Communication to as well as consulting and training of architects, product consultants as well as customers for special areas regarding overall aspects of the product architecture
  • Analyzing and consulting regarding the interoperability of different products and applications of a customer (e.g. with other products of the NetLine suite, other products in customers landscape, other modules within LSY portfolio)
  • Defining technologies used within the product environment (programming languages, database products, scripting languages etc.) and setting up the technological roadmap of the overall product including used modules, services and features
  • Defining non-functional requirements for the product (supported releases; operating-systems and -versions; Java versions, performance considerations, maintainability, scalability, stability, security etc.)
  • Close cooperation with software architects, development lead, product management, customer managers, quality management, and infrastructure architect in all areas regarding plan, build and run
  • Design high-level solutions with holistic approaches considering already existing services and modules within the LSY portfolio and if possible modular assembling techniques
  • Ensuring that all product areas/modules are covered by software architects
  • Act as a communication channel to module development architects, -reponsibles and -teams (e.g. platform team, bid management, OTM/TT)
  • Defining and implementing overall guidelines regarding technology, architecture, programming and design, developing quality and architecture related processes and communicating them as well as checking the compliance


Your profile

  • Completed subject-related studies (university, FH, HS, BA) of computer science, business or mathematics or equal-to-value (international) degree and many years of professional experience
  • Several years of relevant experience as a software architect especially in module design and design patterns
  • A sound knowledge in the design of software systems (for example UML, data modeling and design patterns) very high resilience,  flexibility and willingness to take on responsibility and ability to set up ready for decision proposals in the light of business and economics principles
  • Persuasion and assertiveness, decision-making power, cooperation and teamwork, delegation of tasks, strong capacity for interdisciplinary and holistic, goal-oriented work
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking, high degree of abstraction, mastering complexity
  • Excellent programming language and methodological knowledge in the UNIX / Linux environment, in particular architectures, for the analysis and design of modules and the complete system
  • Very good knowledge of modern IT development environments and programming languages ??(Java, J2EE, Web development) as well as modern cloud based technologies like Docker, Bluemix etc.
  • Knowledgeable on modern IT concepts like Command-Query-Responsibility Segregation and service oriented architectures
  • Experience with mixed legacy (C, Motif, C++) / state of the art technology software systems
  • Communication skills for presenting complex situations and solutions in an easily understandable manner to customers, management and other stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel and perform on-site operations at customers locations world wide
  • Good knowledge of airline business processes in the area of Crew Management
  • Experience in project and problem management, practical experience in cooperation with an international development team
  • English language fluently (written and spoken)
