Duty Officer (Cargo)

To provide a flexible, responsive and efficient day to day Cargo clerical operation at the allocated airport for which you are responsible, ensuring that customer requirements are met and exceeded within the appropriate budget. Customer contact and management of the team to ensure that the highest standards are achieved is very important. Cargo Health and Safety Policies and Cargo Operational Excellence will play a key part in this role.
•Process airwaybills through Cargospot and airline computer systems.
•Communicate with other staff, other departments, airlines, airport authorities and freight forwarders daily .
•Ensuring staff work as trained in all matters including Health & Safety and Security.
•Ensuring all exports and imports are dealt with in a timely manner.
•Assisting with the preparation of roster.
•Keeping accounts and banking up to date.
•Supervise the smooth running of the day to day Cargo office operations.
•Supervision, support and development of the Cargo Clerical team, identifying training requirements as appropriate.
•Supervision of custom airline training.
•Daily review of Cargo IQ stats.
• Provide relevant feedback to customer airlines.
•Supervision of all custom airline communication ensuring staff awareness and engagement.
•Maintain a proactive and positive approach to customer requirements, referring where necessary to the Cargo Manager.
•Play a proactive part in meeting the Company Business objectives
•To ensure compliance to relevant ISO Quality, airline and Swissport standards.
•Comply with all UK / Ireland / EU legislation as well as airport authority and carrier security requirements.
•Comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
•Maintain the highest standards of safety and security at all time.
•Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies
- High School diploma or higher
- Minimum of 5 years experience within the industry
- Thorough working knowledge of Cargo, Warehouse and Ramp processes
- Effective leadership, organisational and communication skills, consistent with a very busy 24/7 Cargo Operation
- Excellent knowledge of the Operation Office function
- Good working knowledge of PC systems and Microsoft Office
- Customer focus and quality awareness with high standards of quality and service level goals
- Strong resource management and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in inclement weather
